Learn More About the 2021 Virtual Congress

CONGRESS OPERATIONS

The ESMO World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer is operating under the guidelines of the Spanish Code of Good Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry defined by the EFPIA Spanish National Member Association. Based on the information you provide during the registration process, your access to certain symposia or exhibitor booths may be restricted based on your country of origin or professional designation to comply with these guidelines. It is your responsibility to accurately present yourself in your registration. For more questions on this, please contact us.

Q: Where and how can I log in?

A: A separate email will be sent out on Tuesday, 29 June from registration@imedex.com with your login details – the email address you registered with and your Badge ID number. Please be sure to check your spam/junk mail folder. We encourage you to log in and preview the experience on Tuesday so that you are ready to go on Wednesday. Please note that sessions will not be live within the Virtual Experience until the meeting starts on 30 June. 

Q: What is the format of this year’s 2021 ESMO World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer and when will it take place?

A: In the spirit of progress and advancement, we are pleased to announce the 2021 ESMO World Congress on GI Cancer will be delivered as a virtual offering, 30 June - 3 July 2021. This immersive event will deliver the groundbreaking scientific research and education you have come to expect year after year from the Congress, including important treatment updates and commentary from our globally recognized experts and thought leaders. Recordings of Congress sessions will be available to participants for 6 months after the event.

Q: Will the live Congress be rescheduled?

A: No. The 2021 ESMO World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer will now be a virtual event. We will gather again face-to-face for the 2022 Congress will in Barcelona, 29 June – 2 July 2022.

Q: What is the programme for the virtual Congress?

A: Our Congress Chairs along with the Scientific Committee have developed an outstanding programme for 2021, focused on practice-changing findings and new treatment approaches that will be of interest to the global gastrointestinal cancer community. The agenda will be posted soon. 

Q: Will I be able to watch session recordings after the Congress has concluded?

A: Yes, all sessions presented live during the virtual event will be recorded and available for viewing after the Congress.

Q: How will attendees of the World Congress on GI Cancer 2021 participate in the sessions?

A: Our virtual experience will be highly interactive and include live discussions and Question-and-Answer dialogue with our faculty. More information on all the features of our virtual Congress will be available soon.

Q: Will all events associated with the Congress be virtual as well?

A: The 2021 Virtual Congress will include scientific sessions, attendee networking, independent satellite symposia, exhibit hall, and more.

Q: What kind of software will be required to view keynotes and interact with the experts?

A: The Virtual 2021 ESMO World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer will be fully web-based, so all you will need is a computer, phone, or tablet and an internet connection. Access details will be shared once available.

Q. Will the programme be presented in English?

A. Similar to previous Congresses, all meeting content will be presented and discussed in English. 

Q: When will I receive access to the on-demand content?

A: On-demand content will be available 48 hours after the Congress concludes. You will have access to the content for 6 months after the conclusion of the Congress.

Q: How do I register myself or a group?

Q: I had previously registered for the 2021 live event in Barcelona. What will happen to my registration?

A: All current registrants have been automatically registered for the 2021 virtual event. We look forward to your participation.

Q: Will my abstract still be published?

A: Yes.  Authors of accepted abstracts, as well as those selected for oral presentations, will be notified by mid- to late-April. Abstracts will be published in a supplement of the Annals of Oncology in July as usual. All embargos remain as scheduled.   

Q: Does the Congress accept late-breaking abstracts?

A: Yes. Noteworthy abstracts that missed the original abstract deadline will be reviewed and accepted on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us at wgi@owpm1.com with further questions.

Q. I am a member of the Press and would like to participate in the virtual Congress

A: Please reach out to pr@hmpglobal.com to complete a press access form. Once approved, you will be registered and receive a link to access.

Q: Who do I contact for questions during the virtual event?

A: Our Support Concierge will be available to answer questions, assist, and optimize your experience throughout the Virtual 2021 ESMO World Congress on GI Cancer. If you have additional questions, please contact us directly at registration@imedex.com.

Q: I am already registered for the face-to-face meeting. What will happen to my hotel reservation?

A: To cancel a hotel room booked through our housing partner, Kuoni, please reach out to them directly at 22wcgic@kuoni-congress.com. If you booked your sleeping room through a hotel, please reach out to the hotel directly.
